The Wimbledon tickets ballot was carried out at 7pm yesterday evening under the scrutiny of our esteemed club secretary. (That’s me). All eligible members names were printed, folded 3 times, and placed into the nominated ballot receptacle (my hat). Names were then drawn out of the hat, one at a time, and the order was recorded. The choice of remaining available tickets was then offered to members in the order in which they were drawn from the hat.
This year the three pairs of tickets have been claimed by:
Special thanks to my nominated drawmaster: Lydia Meek (aged 9), and the ballot witnesses: James Wheatley (aged 15) and Annette Meek (aged XXX).
Our AGM will be held this coming Tuesday 9th May 2017 at the Pewit Golf Pavilion, 8pm. All members welcome to attend. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, please get in touch with Mark (Club Secretary) via our Contact Us page.
Happy New Year to all our members! And now that your annual overindulgence is complete, a reminder that indoor social tennis starts again from tonight! (Tuesday 03 Jan 2017), and Sunday outdoor social from around 1pm as usual this weekend.
Note that all coaching sessions and Cardio Tennis starts back next week.
Here’s one to stick in your diary……. there will be a Sunday walk from Ilkeston Rec to the Nutbrook Cafe for bacon butties, coffee and cake on Sunday December 4th.
We will be meeting at 12pm in the bottom car park i.e. by the Sports/Gym Centre. Please come dressed appropriately i.e. walking boots or wellies as it could be muddy. We will leave just after 12pm so if anyone is running late please message Jo Musson, June Tsakas, Jane Gould or Sue Baker so we know to hang on for you. We expect the walk & eating goodies to last a few hours!!! Obviously, tennis will still take place at 1pm for those that prefer to play than walk. Hope to see some of you there!
Cardio Tennis will be starting again this coming Tuesday (4th October) at the indoor tennis centre, Rutland Sports Park. Cardio Tennis is a fun, sociable group fitness class set on a tennis court and open to people of all ages and abilities. Supported by music and qualified instructors, you’ll get to hit lots of tennis balls during your class and have a great cardio workout at the same time.
The cost is just £5 for members and £6 for non-members, and runs from 6pm to 7pm.
